Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Preview 2017

The Boys Soccer team is off to a great start already in 2017 as they finished 2nd in the Oakridge Invitational on Saturday. “The boys have been working really hard this season, and it showed.” As for the upcoming games, Coach Jason long is looking forward to seeing his young team step up as he will have two sophomores leading his offense.

Francisco Rios and Angel Guevara are both sophomores who are returning starters who will lead thesoccer  team  way on offense for the Lions. On Saturday, Angel had 4 goals and 1 assist while Francisco had 2 goals and 2 assists to start out the season.

In the net will be senior Richard Hearth. He is in his second year as goalkeeper, and will be assisted by 4 year starter on defense, Mitchell Karrip. Chase Pendock and Gabe Townsend will also play key roles this year as seniors.

The Lions have a lot of young players, but they work well together with the upperclassmen. “We have an exciting season ahead of us. We have been really working hard this fall, and it should be a lot of fun seeing what these guys can accomplish soccer teamtogether. They are looking forward to the challenges in front of them, and working towards that CSAA Championship.”  -Coach Jason Long

The Lions will be back in action Monday August 21st at Newaygo for a 4:30 kickoff. They open up league play on August 23rd against Fremont at 4:30 at Newaygo.
