Game 1

Heideman Throws Shutout As Newaygo Lions Varsity Defeats Fremont

Jarrod Heideman didn’t allow a single run as Newaygo Lions Varsity defeated Fremont 1-0 on Monday. Heideman allowed just five hits and induced a fly out from Zimmerman to end the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Jarrod Heideman struck out six, while Pekel sat down seven.

Newaygo Lions Varsity took an early lead in the second inning. Noah Graff‘s sac fly scored one run for Newaygo Lions Varsity.

Heideman earned the win for Newaygo Lions Varsity. He pitched seven innings, giving up zero runs, five hits, striking out six, and walking one. Pekel took the loss for Fremont. He tossed six innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out seven.

Cooper HeinzemanNick Simingoton, and Hunter Lay each managed one hit to lead Newaygo Lions Varsity.

 

Game 2

Newaygo Lions Varsity Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Fremont

Newaygo Lions Varsity defeated Fremont 6-5 in a back-and-forth affair on Monday. The game was tied at five with Newaygo Lions Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Hunter Layreached on a dropped third strike.

Newaygo Lions Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Fremont to score three runs in the fifth inning. Fremont’s big inning was driven by a double by Pekel.

Jacob Polasek earned the win for Newaygo Lions Varsity. He went three innings, surrendering one run, two hits, striking out one, and walking one. Stroven took the loss for Fremont. He threw two innings, surrendering two runs, and two hits.

Orion Gordon started the game for Newaygo Lions Varsity. He threw four innings, allowing four runs, eight hits, and walking one. Yager started the game for Fremont. He tossed two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, two hits, striking out three, and walking one.

Newaygo Lions Varsity had seven hits in the game. Conner Swinehart and Hunter Lay each collected multiple hits for Newaygo Lions VarsityLay and Swinehart each drove in two runs to lead Newaygo Lions Varsity.

Fremont collected ten hits. GroeneveltMiller Co, and Stroven each collected multiple hits for Fremont.
